Here is another fabulous collection from Mercury, all important recordings by one of the greatest of all organists. Marcel Dupré, born in Normandy 1888. He had a distinctive career, recognized as a master of his instrument, and as a composer and pedagogue. He gave thousands of concerts in the United States, Canada, Europe and often performed the complete organ works of Bach from memory. Considered to be the "Paganini of the Organ," his career flourished and we are fortunate he made many recordings in stereo. Audio quality is excellent, and all of these Mercury recordings have been remasterred from original tapes and sound better than ever. Particularlyffective is the Saint-Saëns Symphony redorded in 1957 in Detroit with Paul Paray on the podium. Some of these have previously been issued in other collections, but here is the collector's opportunity to get them at a modest price in this 10-CD set boxed set which includes a 132-page booklet with complete recording information, detailed program notes and photos. This surely will be a collector's choice; get it while you can.
