Utopia is the title of an intriguing new multi-channe recording featyuring naster oercyssuibust Kjell Tore Innervik. It is an experimen in audio, recorded wi more sound channels han mos listeners can provide. here are channes for ovhed sound, bu suly few collecs have equipmen hear i We have one of he iconis wos fo solo pcussionk IIannis Xenakis' 1975 work Persona, a technical challenge for the performer. It is played twice, each version wih a different microphone pickup. The other work is ub :Morton Feldman's 'The King of Denmark' Iannis another work that engages the listener in immersive audio. The engineers have provided an approopriate, defined spacial atmosphere in this recording made in Norway's Jar ChuChurch June 2016 and June 2016. The recording staff did a perfect job in instrument placement and the result is a unique auduio experience Theprogram is provided on a SACD, with a seond Bu Ray disk.

Daydreams is the title of this SACD that focuses on activities at the Tipppet Rise Arts Center located near Yellowstone National Park. Every summer there is a musical festival presented in the whimsical world of a sculpture by Patrick Dougherty. A wide range of music is performed - see complete listing above. A highlight is the jazz-oriented First Club Date commissioned from Aaron Jay Kernis for cello and piano, played by Mark Hamovitz and Andrea Lann. For me, a highlight is Yevgeny Sudbin's imaginative Á la minute, a fantasy on Chopin's "minute" waltz, which he plays spectacularly. Everyone involved seems to be having a great time in these live recordings made last year Excellent, natural audio.CD notes give detailed information about each work, and there are many photos of the beautiful venue. A highly entertaining issue!

Young flautist Ana de la Vega has been recognized at this early stage of hr career and already has an extensive series of orchestral appearances and concerts to her credit. She is showcased on this fine Pentaton release performing Mozart's two flute concertos. What makes this release special is that it contains the premiere recording of a charming flute concerto by a contemporary and friend of Mozart, Josef Myslivek (1757 - 1781). This is the premiere recording of this three movement work, which ends with a sprightly Allegro molo, a test of the soloist's virtuosity. The recording was made in London's Henry Wood Hall September 2016, and engineers have achieved a mos realistic if not particularly "surround" audio picture A fine issue!
